The crisp scent of fall or the fresh spring scent of flowers is a much-anticipated delight. While the warmer Plano, Texas, environment in the summer and cold in the winter won’t necessarily allow you to open the windows, you can still enjoy the aromas of any season in your home. Use natural products to avoid the potentially hazardous chemicals used in many commercial air fresheners.

Simmer Pots

Simmering natural ingredients in a small amount of water is an easy way to add a delightful aroma to your home. You can simmer these on the stove, or put them in a small crockpot. There are several combinations that will create a distinct fall aroma, such as cranberries, orange, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Spring scents can include citrus, peppermint, lavender or even cucumbers.

Craft a Scented Garland

Instead of tossing aromatic items in a bowl of potpourri, spread the scent further by stringing them on a garland. Dried bay leaves and oranges combined with cinnamon sticks will give you a colorful home accent with a delicious smell.

Make a Natural Home Spray

You can make your own home spray with a base of vodka, witch hazel, or ethyl alcohol. Add a few drops of a favorite essential oil, or create a delicious blend. Try different combinations of juniper, cedar wood, orange, bergamot, rosemary, cinnamon, sage, and clove oils. Change your HVAC filter monthly for fresh air, then add these fresh scents to ensure a clean autumn aroma.

Essential Oil Diffusers

You can make your own essential oil diffuser with a small vase and bamboo sticks. Fill the vase with baby oil and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Place the sticks in the vase, and they’ll naturally draw up the oil to diffuse the scent throughout your home. Ideal scents include cinnamon, clove, cedarwood, cardamom, and pine.

It’s always easier to spread these wonderful scents in a home with clean air. If you’re overdue for your annual HVAC maintenance, contact Bill Joplin’s at 888-414-4655 to book your appointment now.
